High standards for SA wine service

wine_tasting440Have you ever heard about the SA Sommeliers Association? It is a movement that started in 2010 to promote the service of wine in South Africa. It aims to provide training and mentorships to guarantee continued development professional standards. To obtain Wine Advisor Membership, one has to complete a formal wine education and have at least three years’ practical restaurant experience in wine service. For a Professional Membership, one has to be a qualified sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers or other accredited school, and have at least 5 years practical experience under the belt.

We’re happy to see so much effort going into our local wine service and it will certainly do a lot for our tourism and hospitality industries. More about this association here.
