Mike Veseth wrote in the Wine Economist recently about the 20 years of Democracy in SA and specifically in the wine industry. We were honoured to be  mentioned and today we’ll take a look at our community projects, starting with the farm communitys children.
We have established a playschool on Excelsior for children in our community. It has currently 20 children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years attending daily. Teachers follow a comprehensive Early Childhood Development Programme to give them the best possible start before their school career commences. Excelsior also part financed a computer room at the departmental preparatory school which is adjacent to our estate. We employ a remedial teacher at this school and work with the Anna Foundation  to manage an after school programme which is a holistic targeted programme of 3 R’s, Reading, Running and Right-ing.
Next time we’ll look at projects that support the adults in our farming community.
